The Union Association for Human Rights Highlights UAE’s Leadership in Humanitarian Aid at International Symposium in Geneva

The Union Association for Human Rights presented, during an international symposium it organized in April 2024, on the sidelines of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva, the humanitarian efforts provided by the UAE in the context of wars and armed conflicts. International speakers and experts affirmed the UAE’s leadership among the world’s top humanitarian aid donors.
The symposium witnessed broad participation from international experts, United Nations Special Rapporteurs, representatives from several international organizations concerned with Human Rights, accredited journalists by the United Nations, and several countries participating in the 55th session of the International Human Rights Council meetings.
Dr. Fatima Al-Kaabi, President of the Union Association for Human Rights, spoke during the international symposium titled “The Role of Human Rights Mechanisms in the Context of Armed Conflicts” about international efforts related to humanitarian support, reconstruction, and rehabilitation carried out by countries and international bodies in their role during wars.
The international symposium recommended the necessity of working on developing international mechanisms for Civilian Protection during wars, ensuring international commitment to the implementation of international humanitarian law, providing immunity to humanitarian and aid workers, and enforcing humanitarian ceasefires and safe corridors to deliver essential services to civilians.
