Union Association for Human Rights Joins Global Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Girls

The Union Association for Human Rights participated in the international campaign to combat violence against women and girls, coinciding with the UAE and global celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, under the theme Towards Beijing 30 Unite to End Violence against Women and Girls.
The campaign spans 16 days through the association’s platforms, in alignment with the UN campaign focusing on global efforts to end violence against women, running from November 25 to Human Rights Day on December 10. Orange is the campaign’s symbol, reflecting a vision of a future free from violence against women, under the slogans Orange the World and No Excuse.
The campaign highlighted international concepts of combating violence against women, its themes, and global objectives, while also showcasing national and international indicators through the association’s platforms.
The Union Association for Human Rights emphasized the importance of ending violence against women and girls globally to achieve equality, justice, and peace, as it poses a significant barrier to sustainable development.
The campaign also sheds light on the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 1995, which calls for addressing violence, particularly economic violence, and achieving gender equality, while referencing UN reports that revealed an increase in violence during crises like COVID-19.
The campaign highlighted the UAE’s vision during its participation in the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, which launched the Beijing Declaration as a comprehensive roadmap to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls worldwide.
It also showcased the UAE’s efforts in combating violence against women locally and regionally, including the Arab Declaration to Combat Violence against Women, which originated from Abu Dhabi. The campaign aims to emphasize zero tolerance for acts of violence against women, whether at home, schools, workplaces, in the community, or through digital platforms.
Additionally, it highlighted the role of Emirati civil society institutions in raising awareness and protecting women and girls from all forms of violence, including physical, digital, economic, and psychological violence.
