Union Association for Human Rights Commends the Adoption of the Resolution to “Combat Islamophobia”

The Union Association for Human Rights commends the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on “Measures to Combat Islamophobia,” aligned with the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. The association further praised the call within the resolution for the appointment of a UN Special Envoy dedicated to combating Islamophobia. The Board of the Union Association for Human Rights stated that this UN General Assembly resolution, issued in March 2024, contributes to the formation of inclusive communities built on peace and justice, encouraging the promotion of a culture of tolerance rooted in respect for human rights and the diversity of religions and beliefs, which are pillars of our shared Islamic history. In this context, the board highlighted the efforts and measures taken by the United Arab Emirates to counter religious intolerance and curb any incitement or spread of hate, driven by the principles of the Islamic faith, the Constitution and the laws aimed at promoting values of peace, tolerance, and acceptance. The board also called for firm action against any incitement of religious, sectarian, or ideological strife that poses a threat to societal security, advocating for its eradication from its roots. They urged the international community to ensure follow-up on the resolution, thus contributing to reinforcing the principle of peaceful coexistence among peoples and civilizations and supporting a unified commitment to human rights.
