International Exhibitions in Geneva Highlight the UAE’s Experience in Protecting Rights and Promoting Humanitarian Efforts

As part of its participation in the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) organized a series of distinguished exhibitions at the Palais des Nations Square in Geneva. The exhibitions presented a comprehensive portrayal of the UAE’s experience in protecting human rights, its global humanitarian efforts, and its approach to privacy in the digital world. Diversified in terms of topics and content, the three exhibitions presented an integrated panorama combining law, humanity, and technology.

Exhibition One: Privacy and Protection in the Digital World (18–20 September)

This exhibition explored the human rights dimension of the digital revolution through 45 artistic display panels addressing cybersecurity, personal data protection, AI ethics, and the right of individuals to privacy in a rapidly evolving digital environment. The awareness works also highlighted the UAE’s advanced legislative framework, including Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection and the national policies on AI and its ethics.

The display panels were created in an interactive visual style that combined artistic symbolism and human rights content, reflecting the UAE’s vision that puts technology at the service of human beings and maintains their balance between digital openness and information security.

Main Objectives:

  • Promote global awareness of the importance of protecting digital privacy as a fundamental human right.
  • Present the UAE’s model in developing advanced digital legislation grounded in the principles of justice and transparency.

Exhibition Two: The UAE’s Global Humanitarian Efforts (21–23 September)

This exhibition portrayed the humanitarian dimension of the UAE’s foreign policy through 45 display panels documenting its field presence in over 140 countries around the world via relief, development, health, and education initiatives, with humanitarian aid exceeding $100 billion. The display panels ranged from images documenting emergency relief operations carried out by Emirati institutions to visuals embodying values of tolerance and human solidarity, in addition to maps illustrating the volume of aid provided over the decades.

Importance of the Exhibition:

Exhibition Three: Human Rights in the UAE – “Journey and Leadership” (24–26 September)

This exhibition highlighted the institutional and legislative evolution of human rights in the UAE through 45 artistic and documentary display panels covering civil, political, social, economic, cultural, and digital rights, as well as justice, equality, women’s empowerment, child protection, labor rights, and the inclusion of people of determination and the elderly, among others.

The display panels reflected the UAE’s qualitative transformation in public policy and its alignment with international standards, in addition to national initiatives promoting tolerance, coexistence, and inter-civilizational dialogue.

Main Themes:

  • Development of the legal and institutional framework for human rights protection in the UAE.
  • Achievements in empowering women, children, and people of determination.
  • The UAE’s role in promoting a culture of tolerance and peace as universal human values.

The series attracted a wide audience, including representatives of member states, international organizations, UN rapporteurs, global media, university students, and visitors — drawn by its profound human rights and artistic message that links ideas with real-world practice.
