Union Association for Human Rights Participates in COP16 to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification in Riyadh

The Union Association for Human Rights participated in the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, over the past few days. The event brought together more than 50,000 participants, including international experts and specialists in the fields of environment and sustainability, alongside representatives from over 1,000 non-governmental organizations and United Nations agencies.
During discussions with sustainable development experts on the sidelines of the conference, the Association highlighted that the UAE’s Consensus during COP28 has contributed to establishing new standards for global climate action. This agreement enabled participating countries to reach a fair and equitable accord to mitigate the risks faced by nations most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, achieving a balance between development requirements and climate action.
