A written statement submitted to the Human Rights Council Commending national efforts to prevent trafficking in persons
The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) commended the efforts of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, which were announced yesterday in conjunction with the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed on July 30. This was marked by the launch of a number of qualitative initiatives that reflect the UAE’s commitment and deep conviction to protect human dignity and combat this crime, within the framework of its humanitarian vision and its adherence to relevant international agreements.
The Association particularly appreciates the launch of the National Plan for Combating Human Trafficking 2025–2027, which serves as a comprehensive strategic framework grounded in an integrated approach. The plan aims to eliminate the root causes of trafficking through several key pillars, including prevention and interdiction, care and rehabilitation, prosecution and punishment, victim protection, and enhanced local and international cooperation. This includes expanding collaboration with regional and international organizations, as well as with civil society.
The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) also commended the launch of the smart referral system for victims of human trafficking, describing it as an advanced digital model that utilizes artificial intelligence to enhance institutional coordination, expedite procedures, and ensure an immediate response to victims’ cases. By employing data analysis to proactively monitor this crime, the system enhances procedural efficiency and speed, aligning with the state’s broader efforts to eliminate bureaucratic barriers and integrate service delivery.
The Association believes that these initiatives embody a serious national will to combat human trafficking, in accordance with the highest international standards. They also affirm the UAE’s leadership in developing protection systems and strengthening its justice framework.
